EBS

Safe replacement for hydrofluoric acid and ammonium bifluoride

Overview

EBS is our most powerful hydrofluoric acid replacement. With data to show no chance or fluorosis upon dermal contact, EBS is a safe way to etch or brighten metals and remove complex silicates. EBS can be formulated to be non-corrosive to skin at less than 12.5%

Cost / Performance

  • Effective for removal of rust/iron oxide
  • Effective solubilization of complex aluminosilicates
  • Highly effective aluminum brightener
  • Highly uniform etch of various alloys (as compared to HF) potentially allowing for lower use levels of finishes/coatings
  • Significantly less aggressive to glass than HF

Uses & Applications

  • Marine
  • MetalCleaners
  • Specialty
  • Transportation
  • Solubilization of complex silicates
  • Acid Presoaks for Cars and Trucks
  • HVAC/Air conditioning fins
  • Pontoon Boat / Aluminum Boat Brighteners
  • Specialized descaling - especially complex aluminosilicates
  • Weld stain removal
  • Wheel Cleaners
  • Aluminum brightening (truck)
  • Effective etching agent for multiple metals

Environment / Health & Safety

  • Classified as a non-corrosive to skin at use levels of 12.5% or less
  • Does not contain any free hydrogen fluoride
  • Eliminates the need for a Skull & Crossbones Pictogram (at any use level)
  • Eliminates the need to file a risk management plan as can be required when using HF or ABF

Formulation Tips - 2:
  • ALWAYS wear personal protective equipment when working with EBS - see SDS for details.
  • EBS is highly effective when used in conjunction with QHD or eQi for wheel cleaning applications.
  • Especially avoid any chance of mist inhalation or ingestion of EBS based products.
  • For formulating or safety advice or information, please contact your sales person directly.
  • M5 is also recommended as a companion acid when chloride is undesirable.
Formulation Tips - 1:
  • Do NOT use EBS in conjunction with ALB or APW or product will lose efficacy.
  • EBS typically performs best with a companion acid like BJSi in most applications especially where both silicates and carbonates are involved.
  • In general, NEVER use EBS in conjunction with another acid - contact your sales rep for assistance with this.
  • NEVER use EBS in conjuntion with skin corrosive acids - if you do, the dermal safety profile will be altered.
